These days, going outside without full winter armor is not an option. Long, puffy jackets, thigh-high snow boots, and cozy scarves are all winter necessities in Boston. But, although it doesn’t seem like it will happen anytime soon, spring is on its way, and personally, I can’t wait! The freedom of a lightweight coat, the ability to rock those leopard print flats, and the desire to go out and explore are just a few weeks away. Boston becomes an entirely new city in the warm weather, and because you’re not taunted by the snow, there are so many reason to go out a discover it!

Explore a new neighborhood:

It’s easy to get stuck in the “Back Bay Bubble,” but Boston has so many cool neighborhoods you need to check out. Go to the North End for some delicious Italian food, South for an off-beat Indie vibe, and Coolidge Corner for a casual weekend of shopping and lunching out. Visit Northeastern or BC and see what the areas around there are like.

Getting out of FitRec and taking long walks:

It’s hard to be motivated while you walk inside on a treadmill when there is glorious sunshine streaming through the windows. Take a walk along the Esplanade or down around the Harbor for a change of scenery. The fresh air and music flowing through your headphones will make exploring that much easier!

Catching a game at Fenway:

Spring means baseball season, so grab a couple of friends and soak up some Vitamin D while catching a Red Sox game. Bonus points for having Fenway Franks and getting on the jumbo-tron!

Enjoying the walk to class, and getting to avoid the BUS:

Forget about the crowded BUS when you can just walk to class. They take almost the same amount of time, and you get to burn cals while you do it. Make the walk even better by grabbing an iced coffee and walking with your friends to their next class.

Studying Outside:

Even though Midterms are over, Finals are just around the corner! Take advantage of the warm weather and move your study party outside. Use people watching as a break from staring at those textbooks, and get your tan on while you do it.

So, while summer may be your favorite season, spring can be equally as nice!
