Not only is this gorgeous girl a strong student academically, she also has a passion for giving back. She has been volunteering for the Special Olympics College for over five years now.Â

Her Campus Boise State: What is about Boise State that made you decide to come here?
Marissa Watkins: I have lived here since I was 4, so I have always had a place to go home to. I like the tight-knit community and all the opportunities for involvement on campus.
HC:Â What organizations are you apart of here at BSU?
MW: Special Olympics College! I am the president of that one. I am also the secretary for the Financial Management Association and a part of the Ski and Snowboard Club.
HC: What made you join the SO College in the first place?
MW: I was actually the founder of the club alongside Hannah Rank. I was a part of a youth counsel in my high school and I thought it would be beneficial for Boise State to start a collegiate chapter.
HC: Is the SO College hosting any upcoming public events?
MW: This weekend we are taking 30 members to the State Winter Special Olympic Games up in Sun Valley. We are also having the event “Spread the Word to End the Word” rally out on the Quad on March 12. The link is on Facebook– definitely check it out!
HC: What are your plans for the future after graduation?
MW: I want to move back to Texas and go to the University of Texas in Austin for my Master’s degree. Eventually, I want to work for the international Special Olympics.
HC: Last random question: what is your current or all-time favorite TV show? I know there are so many to choose from!
MW: Right now, it is between HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother) and New Girl… I watch it every single day!
