I have some words for the polar vortex, and none of them are very ladylike. Â
We’ve had a slight reprieve from the bitter cold, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news – it’s going to get colder again. Â Again, I stress – Polar Vortex, you sir are the devil’s spawn.
I have a hammered out routine to deal with ultra dryness during times like these, but as they say, deperate times call for desperate measures. Â The ultimate, ultimate skin savior that I repeatedly turn to is Weleda’s Skin Food. Â This holy grail of creams does three crucial things: hydrate, restore, and protect. Â What more could you ask for? Â The product is originally intended to be an all over intensive body cream that you use on dry or rough skin, and it accomplishes it’s original purpose beautifully, two thumbs up all the way. Â It has another use that wins it the gold medal (I’ve been watching Sochi), and that’s because it’s an out of this world moisturizer.
Now, I’m not going to try to trick you into thinking this is like any of your other facial moisturizers. It’s not. Â This stuff is thick. Â I take a dime size and dot my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. Â Then I go to town and give myself a mini face massage. Â Notice that I said “massage”. Â No joke, you have to work this into your skin, but the result are beyond worth it! Â The product has organic sunflower seed oil that’s rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. Â It also contains two mild natural antiseptics, organic pansy and rosemary leaf extract, which will alleviate dry itchiness. Â Weleda’s super cream is also full of Organic calendula flower extract to nourish and replenish your skin. Â Now that’s what I call Skin Food.
I use this at night or when I’m relaxing at home, and after applying this, I like to tell myself I can feel my skin replumping itself.  It imparts a radiance that will have everyone asking you how your skin is so good in this weather.  So all that’s left to say is suck it winter.
Weleda Skin Food can be found online for a variety of prices depending on where you buy it from and what size you purchase!  I’ve seen it go from $9-$19 (the official price on their website, usa.weleda.com).
