5 Spring DIY’s For Your Dorm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

Spring is almost here collegiettes! It has been a harsh winter at TCNJ, but warm weather and sunny skies are sure to be heading our way soon. I’m dying to throw on on a T-shirt and go outside sans snow gear. So, it’s safe to say I have a case of spring fever and I can’t be the only one. In preparation for better days, try some of these easy DIY projects to get your dorm room ready for spring!

Flower Votives

So candles may not technically be allowed by TCNJ’s housing rules, but these flower votives are so cute, I’m thinking of taking my chances. Aside from glass votives and tea lights, which you can find at the dollar store or any craft store, all you need for this project is tissue paper and tape.

Fabric Cork Boards

Covering cork tiles with bright or printed fabric can instantly brighten up your space for spring!

Grass Coasters

I love these grassy coasters and they are super easy to make. Just cut out pieces of moss mat and glue them to round cork pieces, both of which you can buy at a craft store.

Tulle String Lights

I love hanging string lights in my dorm (again, I’m taking a risk and breaking some housing rules) to brighten up the room and add a little bit of sparkle. These tulle lights are one of the easiest ways to dress up your string lights for spring!

Fabric-Covered Hangers

Even if it’s not time to break out spring clothes just yet, we can still brighten up our wardrobes with these fabric-covered hangers. Cover plastic hangers with springy or floral fabric to give your closet a hint of the season.
