Rhun Erddyn Davies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter Cornwall chapter.

For the past couple of weeks, campus has been a flurry of posters, stickers, and campaigners; all vying for your vote in the FXU elections. Amongst all of this activity, you may have noticed Exeter President candidate, Rhun: his name seems to have slotted nicely into his campaign, with an abundance of posters and stickers adorned with the catch phrase If he’s Rhunning, I’m Voting having been scattered around campus.

This week, we caught up with Rhun to find out more about his campaign, his thought on the Bottle Match, as well as some extra snippets he might not have included in his manifesto!

Name: Rhun Erddyn Davies

Relationship status: In a relationship

Course: 3rd year History

What’s your idea of the perfect date? I am fairly active, so my idea of the perfect date would be an activity such as go-karting, a long walk, or even the occasional trip to the beach for some surfing.

What’s something about you that most people don’t know? I am a twin, and spent the first few weeks of my life wearing pink because the doctor misread the sonogram: thinking I was a girl, my parents went ahead and bought a lot of pink baby clothes!

Describe yourself in 3 words. Energetic, ambitious and easy-going.

Tell us a little about your campaign to be Exeter President next year. Basically, I have been incredibly active on social media and around campus over the last week trying, more than anything, to raise awareness of the election. I believe it is imperative that students have their say on matters that truly do affect them, and their choice for president is certainly an important and crucial decision they need to undertake. I won’t bore you with too much with details of my manifesto, but mainly, I believe that this campus and its students should receive what they deserve – that is equal opportunities and representation to Streatham students down here in Penryn.

What made you decide to stay in Falmouth for another year? These past few years have been absolutely fantastic. I have met so many amazing people and have been a part of something truly special down here in Falmouth. I don’t want that to end with my graduation, I want to give something back after all this university and campus has given to me.

What are some of your hobbies and interests? My main hobbies include reading, playing musical instruments and socialising with friends. Sport is also a massive passion of mine, particularly rugby, football and tennis.

How do you feel about the bottle match result? I think all the sports teams played amazingly well. As for our result (rugby), I couldn’t have asked anymore from the boys. They all put everything into that game, and although we didn’t lose, it’s rather frustrating that last year’s result had an impact on this year, particularly with my disallowed try so close to the end!

How do you feel about being nominated as HC campus cutie? It’s a rather unexpected, yet flattering, nomination!

To find out more about Rhun’s campaign, you can check out his Facebook page, or his campaign video:

Don’t forget to vote (before Friday!) on the FXU website.

If he’s Rhunning, we at HC are voting!
