MUSIC MONDAY: 7 Must-See Spring and Summer Tours

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Following the flood of new albums that were released last year, it’s the season for concerts and lots of them.  Countless artists will be in and out of Tampa in the next few months, but here are a few that you will most definitely hear about and should consider checking out.  Is your favorite artist coming to town?  Find out where, when and what to expect from some of the biggest shows heading to Tampa.

Demi Lovato, Neon Lights Tour

WHERE: St. Pete Times ForumWHEN: Wednesday, February 26WHAT TO EXPECT: Fans of Lovato should certainly expect her larger-than-life voice belting out hits such as “Heart Attack” and “Give Your Heart A Break.”  Also, before Lovato hits the stage, openers include girl groups Fifth Harmony and Little Mix.

Emblem3, #BandLife Tour

WHERE: Ruth Eckerd HallWHEN: Wednesday, March 5WHAT TO EXPECT: First and foremost, concertgoers should anticipate ear-shattering screaming from the audience.  Behind the screaming will be the band’s signature reggae-pop sound on “XO” and “Just For One Day.”

Miley Cyrus, Bangerz Tour

WHERE: St. Pete Times ForumWHEN: Thursday, March 20WHAT TO EXPECT: Did you see Miley’s VMA performance?  Expect that x10.  (Proof: See above photo.)  She may not come in on a wrecking ball, but she enters the stage on a tongue slide (again, see above) and swings on an aerial hot dog.

The Avett Brothers, 2014 Tour

WHERE: USF Sun DomeWHEN: Saturday, March 29WHAT TO EXPECT: The folk group will be right in our backyard at USF the day after Casting Crowns.  The band will certainly play fan-favorites and mostly new songs from their latest album Magpie and the Dandelion.

Zac Brown Band with Kacey Musgraves, Tour 2014

WHERE: MIDFLORIDA Credit Union AmphitheatreWHEN: Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30WHAT TO EXPECT: Well, it’s a country show and country shows tend to be some of the wildest.  Expect beer-soaked sing-a-longs to the band’s most popular hits.  Musgraves, a recent Grammy winner, will surely bring her brand of country innocence to the stage.

Katy Perry, The Prismatic World Tour

WHERE: St. Times ForumWHEN: Monday, June 30WHAT TO EXPECT: Perry has promised that she will be closer to her fans than she has ever been before.  The stage jets out in a wide, narrow triangle, a design made to keep that promise.  Fans should expect to hear old favorites and new number-ones “Roar” and “Dark Horse.”

Dave Matthews Band, A Very Special Evening with Dave Matthews Band

WHERE: MIDFLORIDA Credit Union AmphitheatreWHEN: Wednesday, July 16WHAT TO EXPECT: Fans can almost certainly expect to hear old favorites such as “Ants Marching” and “Crash Into Me” and some of the band’s newer offerings.  The show includes an acoustic set and an electric set.

Which tour will you check out?  Tell us in the comments!
