Get to Know Your DA: Patricia Mota

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Year: 2016

Hometown: Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood (the lower west side)

Major: Spanish Area Studies

Favorite memory of my time at Kenyon so far: I have so many, but my favorite was the first time I took a midnight stroll through Kenyon. I remember being shocked at how different it was from the busy city streets I was used to.

Why I chose to be a DA: I chose to be a DA because I genuinely love Kenyon and know that by offering an open ear I can help focus discussion on diversity in hopes of closing the gap between students.

Diversity-related issue that I am most passionate about: The availability and accessibility of higher education for minority students.

Advice that I would give my first year self if I could go back in time: Be open-minded and smile. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Just have fun.

Ally Bruschi is a senior political science major at Kenyon College. She spent this past summer interning as a writer with both The Daily Meal, a digital media group  dedicated to "all things food and drink" and The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that partners with U.S. policymakers to alleviate global poverty. Before entering the "real world" of jobs, however, Ally spent many summers as a counselor at an all-girls summer camp in Vermont, aka the most wonderful place on earth. A good book, a jar of peanut butter, a well-crafted Spotify playlist, and a lazy dog could get her through even the worst of days.
