10 Crushworthy Olympians That Will Melt Your Heart

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marymount chapter.

As I’ve been obsessively watching the Winter Olympics these past two weeks, I found myself being impressed by more than just the incredible athleticism of the competitors. Turns out, most of the athletes are gifted in more than one area, including being incredibly gorgeous. So without further ado, here are some of the most crushworthy Olympians I have seen so far. It might be cold in Sochi, but that won’t stop these cuties from melting our hearts!

1. Gus Kenworthy

A silver medal in slopestyle skiing wasn’t the only thing this cutie took home. A 22-year-old native Coloradan, Gus caught everyone’s attention when he decided to rescue a group of stray dogs he found in Sochi.

I’m not sure who’s more adorable, him or the puppies!

2. Joss Christensen and Nick Goepper

Let’s not forget Gus’ gold and bronze buddies that he swept the podium with. Joss Christensen and Nick Goepper are just as gorgeous! These three amigos are literally my favorite.

Guess what? They’re on the Corn Flakes box. Now go eat some Corn Flakes.

3. Mark McMorris

A snowboarder since age 5, the now 20-year-old McMorris has a bronze medal in slopestyle. He’s a Canadian, has an awesome sense of style, and oh, he does Yoga. Swoon.

The hair! The smile! Perfection.

4. Stale Sandbech

This Norwegian beauty took silver alongside McMorris in slopestyle. He may not have been sporting his Mohawk on the day of competition, but his long locks are just as charming.

Is he a model? Because he should be.

5. Jan Smeekens

This 27-year-old speed skater won silver in the men’s 500 meter race this year.  And he’s not just a skater. He has a business degree and loves sailing in his native Netherlands.

He grew this mustache during Movember, but I’m not complaining. Not. One. Bit.

6. Sven Kramer

This hunky Dutchman is a teammate of Jan Smeekens. He took home a gold medal in the 5000 meter race and a silver in the 1000 meter race in Sochi.

Stop being so cute Sven. You’re giving the reindeer from Frozen a run for their money.

7. Martin Fourcade

He took up Biathalon at age 10, and it seems to be paying off. He won two golds and a silver in this years Olympics. He may be skiing for France, but he speaks English and Spanish too.

Stop being so impressive, Martin. And by stop I mean please continue, you’re beautiful.

8. David Wise

World Champion, Wise won gold in this years skiing halfpipe. Made in the USA, this 23-year-old talent has a wife and daughter that he spends time with when he’s off the slopes.

We can still look, right?

9. John Daly

John began competing in Skeleton in 2001, and now he’s on the olympic team with fellow athletes Matt Antoine and Kyle Tress. If he wasn’t cool enough already, he’s a Youtube hit for his ‘Your Daly Nitro’ videos alongside fellow bobsled athlete Steve Langton.

Can I join the team?

10. Shaun White

White is no longer the flying tomato that we watched as kids. He may not have won any medals at this year’s games in Sochi, but he came back with a new look and attitude that made him seem like a rock star. Oh wait, he is a rock star. He plays guitar in his band Wild Things and is one of the few boarders to wear tight pants, which we appreciate fully.

We really do like the haircut Shaun.  A LOT.
