What are you involved in on campus?
On campus I try to involve myself with as many activities as I can. I have been working with Emerson Independent Video and Emerson Channel since I have arrived at Emerson College. I started out doing small roles for their programs, such as camera operating, lighting assist, teleprompting, and now I have eventually evolved into roles such as associate producer and senior writer. I am the associate producer of Common Agenda, my favorite show that I have worked on since freshmen year and I am a senior writer for EIV news at 9. I really have tried to get involved with the writing in the news shows and I want to try to expand my broadcast skills as much as possible. Last year I also worked as a makeup assistant for the Evvy’s because I just really love to do makeup and I always have had a passion for makeup and hair design. I also am the event planner for Society of Professional Journalists. We are a smaller organization now, but we are really trying to expand this semester and grow. Lastly, I work on WEBN and J-Channel when I can because I am always looking to write broadcast stories on the side and have more time for journalism. I really try to get involved in everything I can and expand my knowledge of behind the scenes of journalism and on camera. I also scored an internship at AEI Speakers Bureau last semester because of Emerson and this summer I will be interning at Rhode Island Monthly, which is a pretty great magazine where I’m from.
What can we expect with your work with these organizations?
Well, you can expect to see me a lot. Whether I am on camera or behind the scenes, I really am trying to be as involved as I can and learn as much as I can about the studio. Also, hopefully I will be producing a show next semester. That is my goal. I want to be a talent on a show next semester and also produce, since I am associate producer now, I am hoping to produce a show next semester. I think it is important to build up leadership knowledge and I really want to get a job when I get out of Emerson. (lol)
What can we expect from you in the future (project wise)?
In school, hopefully producing some shows and being a talent for some of the shows on EIV and Emerson Channel. Well, this is outside of school, but I consider myself a Disney Princess. I auditioned for America’s Got Talent with a Disney Princess Comedy Act, called, “Confessions of a Disney Princess.” But, if I do not make it onto the actual show, you will not see the end of my princess act. I have been looking into performing at local venues, and I definitely see myself expanding my act so that I could make it more popular in the city of Boston. I am not a normal princess, I am not a normal sized princess, I am a shapelier girl and I think I represent a curvy princess that Disney should have. So in the future, I will be doing a lot of this, and of course, I am always trying to act and be in independent films and productions in the city. I just really try to go out and get what I want. I am the most persistent and annoying person I know, I bother people until I get what I want.
Who or what inspires you?
I guess my mom is an inspiration, which sounds totally cliché, but it is really true. Ever since I was a little girl, she told me that I could do anything I want. It is lame, but she always told me I was special and that I would do something great with my life. I really believe her. I believe I have the potential to do anything I want, and when I dream, I tend to dream really big and hope for the biggest things in the world. But I think this has made me stronger, I push to get what I want. I have never really taken no for an answer, and when I am rejected for something, I just keep pushing. I am persistent, and I just really have the inspiration from my mom. She has always had an unconditional amount of love for me and she truly believes I am going to make a difference.
Biggest accomplishment so far at Emerson?
I think my biggest accomplishment at Emerson so far is getting to an associate producer position. When I came to Emerson, I had no idea how to direct or do any sort of technical stuff, and now I am able to do more of the behind the scenes work for shows and I have vastly improved my understanding of technology. Also, I am pretty excited that I am being featured in this magazine and I was featured on Common Agenda for my America’s Got Talent Audition. So I guess, I have more accomplishments to come, and I can’t wait to keep moving up in the world!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I would like to say, in ten years I see myself as an actress or a famous newscaster. That would be my ultimate dream. I would love to be able to be at an awards show and be an example to curvy women that there can be multiple body types in show business. I really love being on camera, and I would love to share my message at the same time. I definitely see myself as a famous celebrity, whether it be on the news, or in the movies. Either way, I am trying to do both! I am hoping for one of those careers.
Dream job?
Like I said, my dream job is a tie between an actress and a famous newscaster. A Disney Princess is also my dream job. I just would like to have the opportunity to act out and be on camera in some way, and also I like the idea of inspiring people about their body image and teaching people that they can be any size. I would just love to do something on a larger scale that could make people happy and put a smile on their faces.
If you could trade lives with a celebrity for one day, who would it be and why?
I guess I would trade lives with Scarlett Johansson because she is a beautiful red head, and I value my red hair. She is an actress, which I would love to do. BUT MOSTLY, because she gets to interact with Robert Downey Jr. Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth in The Avengers movies. And of course I would love to be a part of The Avengers.Â
