Whenever I’m on campus and I get hungry, it’s hard to resist the urge to stop by Chick-fil-A — it’s just so good! As much as I love its food, I can’t have it every day because it’s not the healthiest option and would quickly drain my bank account. If you face this same dilemma, I have a solution: I came across a recipe that perfectly imitates the taste of Chick-fil-A. So, if it’s a Sunday afternoon and you just have to have some, there’s no need to be upset that they’re not open — just make some at home!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2-3 skinless and boneless chicken breasts
- 1 large egg
- 1 C of milk
- 2 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of pepper
- 1 C of flour
- 2 Tbsp of powdered sugar
- 1 tsp of paprika
- Peanut or canola oil
Here’s what to do:
- Start by mixing the milk and egg together in a large bowl, and mix all the dry ingredients in another large bowl.
- Place the chicken on a cutting board, and carefully cut it into bite-size pieces.
- Place each piece of chicken in the milk and egg mixture until it’s fully coated, and then dip it into the flour mixture. Again, make sure each piece is completely coated.
- Pour the peanut or canola oil in a large saucepan, and place it on the stove on medium heat.
- Place each piece of chicken in the oil for at least 3 minutes or until it has a golden brown color. (Make sure it’s fully cooked!)
- Set the pieces of chicken on a paper towel to allow some of the oil to soak up.
That’s it! By making this yourself, not only are you getting the same satisfaction, but you are also not emptying your wallet! You can even try different ways to make this dish a bit healthier, such as baking the chicken rather than frying it on the stove. Enjoy!
