Meet “The Alexs”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

From the moment I sat down with “The Alexs,” I couldn’t stop laughing. FUSA President Alex Long has a personality that can brighten any room, and Vice President Alex Cucchi has a sweet demeanor that will make you blush. Besides being two studs, Alex Long with his blue eyes, and Alex Cucchi with his amazing smile; they also have what it takes to run FUSA, and run it well. These two don’t just make for a great team, but also a great time. Read on to learn more about this week’s campus cuties, Alex Long and Alex Cucchi.

Her Campus: So, Alex, Alex, when did you two decide to run for FUSA President and Vice President?Alex Cucchi: Alex and I weren’t even that good of friends when we first started running together actually…Alex Long: Alex likes to talk in third person sometimes. (Alex Cucchi and Alex Long laugh) Seriously though, we were both senators and I had known about Alex through someone else, but after a senate meeting one time I saw a lot of potential in him, and I knew I wanted to run so I asked if he wanted to run for Vice President.

HC: What are your favorite aspects of being apart of FUSA?AC: Being apart of FUSA means I get to work with a team of students from all over campus, and it’s a really unique experience everyday. It brought me out of my comfort zone and I really enjoy that.AL: My favorite aspect is being able to bring a group of all types of students together, and at the end of the day we always have a great time. It’s such a cohesive unit.

HC: Alex Long, graduation is coming up in a few months, where do you see yourself next year?AL: Thanks for reminding me.HC: (laughs)AC: Unemployed? (laughs)AL: Your guess is as good as mine. I’m not sure at this point but grad school is on the horizon as well as possible job opportunities. I’m currently interning at a music public relations firm in New York City so I’m hoping that gives me good experience and maybe a job? I like to have options.HC: Is that what you want to go into?AL: It’s definitely an industry I’m into. PR really intrigues me. I deal with it everyday.

HC: Alex Cuchi, re-elections are coming up; what do you have in store for FUSA if you’re re-elected?AC: Alex and I ran on improving the student experience as a whole, and as far as next year goes I would like to continue working off of that platform. I want to make events better. We talked about a spring day this year but we weren’t able to make it happen because of funding issues, but I want to get organizations on campus to come together for a better environment. Putting the leaders of campus together, you can really create an awesome event not just for the 20% involved but the 80% of students who we want to get involved. I just really want people to look back at Fairfield and be like wow I had a great four years there, and pin point specific moments they’ll never forget, and tell everyone that they love Fairfield.

HC: What do you love most about Fairfield girls?AC: Besides looks, because there are a lot of pretty girls here, you get a lot of down to earth girls that are sometimes hard to find. They’re always up for having a good time too.AL: I went to an all boys high school, and in my first communications class at Fairfield there were 23 girls and five guys, it was awesome (laughs). But the best part is that they’ve got it all. They’re smart, good-looking, and they take pride in what they do.

HC: Alex Long, describe Alex Cucchi in two words:AL: Enthusiastic and admirable.

HC: Alex Cucchi, describe Alex Long in two words:AL: Passionate and smooth.

HC: What are your favorite spots on campus?AC: The townhouse quad when it’s nice out.AL: The Zen Garden.

HC: If you two had a theme song, what would it be:Both: (look at each other) Me and Julio Down by The School Yard by Paul Simon (laughs).
