Zackery McVay is one of the sweetest guys ever. He has a big heart and is always there to lend a helping hand. This self-proclaimed mama’s boy, loves cooking and enjoys being active on campus! What’s your ideal first date?My ideal first date would be bowling and dinner with some Frostbites afterwards.
What are some of the characterisitc in your ideal girl?“In touch with God, loves people, loves children!” Loves herself, selfless. Independent. What matters most is everything above her neck. She needs to have a good head on her shoulders.
What organizations are you involved it?I have been involved with the Campus Safety Escort here on campus since Winter 2012! I am also a member of Asian American Christian Fellowship since Fall 2012. I work at Chass F1RST as an International student peer mentor and have been the campus-community engagement coordinator for the International student resource center since Fall 2013. I also volunteer at the resource center as an International peer advisor and at the UCR Extension as an English conversation partner. I have also traveled out of the states to volunteer at Ghana in West Africa to help orphans learn how to play basketball and instill in them the value of education.
What are some of your hobbies?I enjoy learning new languages, meeting international students, and volunteering.
What do you like to do with your free time?I spend my free time exercising at the gym, reading a book, writing poetry, traveling, trying and cooking new dishes.
What’s your favorite memory about/at UCR?My favorite memory of UCR is seeing all the beautiful woman representing their letters!
What are some facts about yourself that others might not expect to know?I have 4 tattoos, 6 siblings and I’m Malaysian-Irish American. Also I am a huge mama’s boy and I will confess that I cried during The Lion King.
What are you plans after graduation?I plan to move to China to teach English for one year then return to beautiful Southern California and pursue my dream of being a Special Education Teacher.
