Our own Her Campus writer Amanda Tandourjian is saying farewell to Bloomsburg!
Hometown:Â Hainesport, NJ Â Â Â Â Â
Major:Â Business Marketing
Year:Â Sophomore
Relationship Status:Â In a Relationship
On Campus Organization:Â Phi Iota Chi (Pixies)
Her Campus: It’s so sad to hear that you’re leaving Bloomsburg! You were so involved in the campus community. What was one of your fondest memories of being a Bloomsburg student?
Amanda Tandourjian: It sounds so cliché, but it’s the truth…joining my sorority. I love each and every one of those girls, and they truly are my sisters.
HC: Are you sad to say goodbye to your sorority, Phi Iota Chi?
AT: Leaving them is going to be one of the hardest things I have to do in my life and sad can’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling about it, but I know they’ll still be my best friends no matter how many miles we’re apart.
HC: What made you want to join Pixies?
AT:Â My instant connection with so many of my sisters. I knew I wanted to be apart of an organization that was warm and welcoming and so close with one another.
HC: What was your fondest memory that you shared with your sisters?
AT:Â Bids night, hands down. None of my pledge sisters knew each other before joining Pixies, and we all had the best time together as complete strangers.
HC: What will you miss most about Phi Iota Chi?
AT: With my sorority, everyone helps each other out. If you need a shirt to go out in, a last minute Halloween costume, or someone to talk to when you’re having a bad day, there’s always someone here for you. The most comforting part is I know I won’t miss that, because even though I won’t be in Bloomsburg physically my sisters always make sure they’re there for me no matter what.
HC: Would you advise freshmen to go through Rush? If so, why?
AT: Of course! Rush is a chance for freshmen to get to know what each sorority is truly about; the bond they share with their sisters, their community involvement, and so on. You can’t commit to an organization without keeping an open mind to what each one has to offer.
HC: Will you be back to visit Bloomsburg?
AT: YES. YES. YES. Too frequently I think! Especially next semester, because I can’t live without my sorority; I plan on at least one weekend a month if not more!
HC: What other organizations are you involved with?
AT: Not really any organizations per say, but I’ve had the privilege of writing for HC Bloomsburg and I volunteer a lot at home for a soup kitchen near my hometown.
HC: Which was your favorite piece that you wrote for Her Campus Bloomsburg?
AT: My “What to Wear: Library Attire” piece is my favorite. I made outfits on a website called Polyvore, and it was so fun! I got to pick out bottoms, tops, shoes, anything you could imagine to come up with an outfit!
Good luck in wherever life takes you! You will be missed!
