Advice Column: Finals’ Procrastination: A Guide to Disaster

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

I know you, like me, are sick of the words: studying, finals, tests, school!
You are just about to snap if you hear one of those words again. You are frustrated, tired, and very angry. And you sure as heck can’t understand why people won’t stop talking about those darned finals.

But I know you very well, you enthusiastic procrastinator! Let’s go over what you’ve done so far to pass those tests!

So far you have opened your books three times… and closed them almost right away. Because who needs books when you likely have a photographic memory at your favor? I mean, you remember all those Mean Girl quotes, it must mean something, right?

You have tried sitting down, writing notes, and diligently doing your homework.  But you can’t hold it for too long.  At some point within the hour you start taking more breaks than you should.

Your friends have tried talking to you about how important it is that you concentrate and study for finals. But they clearly don’t understand your struggle!

Finally, when you try reading over your notes, confident that you just need to review, you really understand the mess you’re in.

So you actually start studying

And you feel miserable every lasting second of your procrastinated all-nighter.

So you promise to never, ever procrastinate again.

A promise you likely won’t keep. Yet, I hope you do, because procrastinating is not fun, and you have it in you to do a good job studying. We all do! So let’s get back on track and kill them finals!
