Campus Celebrity: Marshawn Lynch

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.
In honor of the 49ers vs Seahawks game this Sunday, this week’s campus celebrity goes to Cal Alumni Marshawn Lynch.

Born in Oakland, Ca, Lynch attended Oakland Technical High School and was later drafted to UC Berkeley to play football.

Breaking Records: Lynch became the 4th player in Cal history to rush for more than 3,000 yards. He also was named Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year in 2006. Due to his extraordinary performances, Lynch received the Bear Backer Award as the team’s Most Valuable Player.

In the 2007 NFL Draft, Lynch was drafted in the 12th overall selection by The Buffalo Bills.

In 2011, Lynch was traded by Buffalo to the Seattle Seahawks who he currently plays for: #24.

Nicknamed “The Beast.”

Fun Fact: Marshawn eats a bag of Skittles during each game, which is said to turn him into “Beast Mode”.

Make sure to catch Marshawn this Sunday when his team faces the San Francisco 49ers, here in San Francisco.
