Get To Know Your DA: Sarah Gold

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Although she is currently studying abroad in Morocco, Sarah Gold is this week’s DA. Look for her around campus next semester!

Year: Junior
Hometown: Arlington, Virginia
Major: International Studies with a concentration in Islamic Civilization and Cultures

Why did you decide to become a DA?
In the words of my hero Nelson Mandela, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” If I can contribute positively to a community with less discrimination and more acceptance and cooperation, then I believe I must.

What diversity related issue are you most passionate about?
Discrimination due to gender, race/ethnicity, and religion.

What’s your favorite Kenyon memory so far?
A mid-May night spent in Hillel House reading a slam poem with a best friend and eating cupcakes with so many wonderful people gathered.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Shape-shifting

Ally Bruschi is a senior political science major at Kenyon College. She spent this past summer interning as a writer with both The Daily Meal, a digital media group  dedicated to "all things food and drink" and The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that partners with U.S. policymakers to alleviate global poverty. Before entering the "real world" of jobs, however, Ally spent many summers as a counselor at an all-girls summer camp in Vermont, aka the most wonderful place on earth. A good book, a jar of peanut butter, a well-crafted Spotify playlist, and a lazy dog could get her through even the worst of days.
