Congratulations on making it all the way to Amsterdam. Could you tell us a bit about how the journey went? We were really lucky with our hitch hike! We began at 6 am last Thursday with a free train journey to the services, and had our longest wait here (which was only an hour and a half, compared to some teams that had to sleep out over night at Calais..) We very nearly made it to Amsterdam by 11 pm that day but instead we made the great decision to go to a party with the crazy Dutch lady that gave us our last lift.. So we finally arrived at Amsterdam at midday on the Friday a little worse for wear.
Any close calls? We were nearly stranded at Calais as it was surprisingly difficult to hitch a lift on the ferry- stumbling around the ferry feeling seasick, and being kicked out of the coach drivers restaurant while begging for lifts was definitely a low point haha… Luckily we managed to find a German guy at the very last minute.
We know the hitch hike was for Amnesty International. Could you tell us a bit about the charity? Amnesty is a global organisation fighting for basic human rights across the world. Campaigning against death penalties, organising re-trials, and bringing justice for those under the rule of dictatorships are just a few areas this charity is involved with. Â
And how much money did you manage to raise for the charity? So far we have raised ÂŁ190.00, but we will be continuing to raise money until January!
Why should people get involved wit RAG? It’s a great way to raise awareness about charities and raise money for worthy causes. (And you will have so much fun doing it!)Â
And most importantly, what did you all get up to in Amsterdam!?  What happens in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam…
