Mentalist Sean Bott came to hypnotize the minds of 30 Lasell students on October 30. Because the amount of audience members that attended was small, he was able to engage himself with his audience more. Â
Â
Bott’s act began with him picking four audience members, telling them to think of people, places, and other items of importance to them. Â
Â
Another of his acts involved three audience members, Emma Nuneviller, Jessica Marsolais, and myself, picking words out of a book and him guessing what the words were. The three words included candlestick, handkerchief, and bartender. Â
Â
At the end of his act, he took two audience members and placed coins in their hand. The first member had one in her hand, and the other member had several. The girl with one coin in her hand was forced to make a fist around the coin. The girl with several coins in her hand was told to rub her hands together with the coins. By the end of the act, both girls had bent coins in their hands.
As a bonus act because of the small audience, Bott gathered up his audience onto the stage for his final performance. He selected two members, Natalie Kfoury and Mary Fountain, for this act. He touched Kfoury’s nose three times, and with the motion of his hands without actually touching her, he was able to make Mary Fountain feel like her nose was touched three times.Â
“It felt like a leaf hit my nose three times,” said Fountain.
Â
L.A. Times has complimented him as a “crazy mix between Jack Black and Chris Angel.” His humor as well as being able to think on his feet made his performance enjoyable.Â
