Best Froyo Places around BC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

In my hometown, I am used to having a different fro-yo store on every street corner. Needless to say, I was shocked when I got to BC and the options were bleak at best. Not to worry though, as during my four years here, the fro-yo situation has definitely improved and it has become way easier to indulge in everyone’s favorite “healthy” dessert. While there are still a lot of non self-serve places (not my favorite), it seems like a new self-serve place is popping up every month around campus! Because there are now so many options, I have chosen my top three favorite places, all of them accessible by public transportation or better yet, your friend’s car.

  1. Sixteen Handles—Coolidge Corner

This place is my top favorite fro-yo place around campus and even though Coolidge Corner is a little bit of a hike, it is totally worth it. Not to mention there are a million places to get dinner in the area, and it’s nice to get out of the BC bubble every once in a while. Plus, they have the best holiday flavors! For fall, they have pumpkin, cider donut, salted caramel, and Oktoberfest stout (make your own judgment call on that one). They also have a million toppings and they are the cheapest place that I’ve found, plus they stay open until 11 p.m., which is ideal.

  1. Yogurtland—Newton Center and Coolidge Corner

Coming in at a close second is Yogurtland, which is located in both Newton Center and Coolidge Corner—perfect for upperclassmen and any freshmen stuck on Newton. They also have a ton of holiday flavors and great toppings. They do close at 10 p.m. which is not ideal for late-night fro-yo cravings, but if you are looking for somewhere in walking distance from Newton or the Newton Center T stop, Yogurtland is definitely a good option.

  1. Fruitee Yogurt—Cleveland Circle

Fruitee Yogurt is a BC gem that many people have never tried. Since Chill is so much closer, it seems like most BC students wind up there (again not self-serve, not as good). Although Fruitee yogurt has less toppings and flavors, they are within walking distance of campus and almost all off campus housing. They also get new flavors all of the time, which is both good and bad if your favorite flavor gets taken away (mine being coconut). It can get a little expensive, but only if you go topping crazy like a girl this summer who I saw spend $9 on her fro-yo! But don’t worry, if you stick to a normal amount, I think you should be okay.

So, make sure to get off campus and try these delicious fro-yo spots! Trust me, you won’t regret it.
