How To Ace Your Exams!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USC (AU) chapter.
It’s easier said than done and it’s something that takes lots of practice (unless you’re one of those pass-without-studying kind).  Acing your exams takes time and preparation and the only key is: studying. Here are a few tips that might work for you.

1. Turn off or deactivate all social media devices (facebook, twitter, tumblr) to allow yourself to concentrate. If you need to contact someone about the exam call him or her.

2. Start preparing well before the exam. Cramming the night before just leaves you frustrated and with little or no knowledge than you knew before.

3. Write flash cards. Sometimes writing out information helps to retain it. And then you can highlight or get creative to help you remember key information.

4. Record yourself saying important information and then listen to it before you fall asleep, you’d be surprised how well it works.

5. Organise a study group. Get a group of mates together, bake some treats and spend the day studying and quizzing each other. It’s amazing what information others may have that you don’t.

6. Take a break. Don’t read and read until your eyes and brain hurt. Give yourself a break every couple of hours. Stretch the legs, get some vitamin D (sun) and make yourself a cup of tea.

7. Go for a run. Clear your head and get rid of any stress so you can focus on what you need to learn.

8. Go over and over the information until it sticks. Get friends or family to test your knowledge and see what you still need to learn.

9. Study in a quiet room with good ventilation and drink plenty of water.

10. Get plenty of sleep. The body needs to heal overnight in order for it to work it’s best and retain information again the next day.
