What is your average day like?
For me, each day is different. The only routine I have is with ROTC. I wake up at 5:15am Monday through Thursday to do PT (physical training), then I attend classes the rest of the day. After the day is done, I may go to the gym or go hang out with friends.
What do you like to do for fun?
I am somewhat of a health freak, so I really enjoy going to the gym and running. The adrenaline rush you get from the workout is one of the best feelings. Football has always been one of my passions, and I currently play intramural football at USM. I also really enjoy just being with friends and hanging out. Â
What made you join ROTC?
I joined the Army National Guard in 2010, and I have always felt I had a very strong sense of leadership. This led me to want to train and lead soldiers in one of the world’s greatest military forces. ROTC gave me the chance to learn and train in real world circumstances. Also, in my opinion, USM ROTC is the best program that develops future officers.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
I see myself as a Captain in the United States Army. I also expect to have a wife and family. I plan to go back to school and obtain my Master’s Degree in Construction Engineering. My dream place to be is Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
One thing most people do not know about me is that I am a perfectionist. I give one hundred percent effort into everything I attempt. I will try again and again until I get it right. This attitude is what leads to my extreme competitiveness. I live by this quote:
“Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing good and well that we will not catch perfection because nothing is perfect. But, in the process, we will catch excellence.”–Vince Lombardi
