It’s almost Halloween! Decorating for a party or for the season is a must, but it can get expensive. If you want to save money, or if you’re just crafty, check out these DIY Halloween decorations to creep your roommates out. All available instructions for these crafts are linked below the pictures.Â
1. Tortured candles
These are so weird, and so easy to make. Just use white candles, carpet tacks, and a red candle or crayon for the blood. I sense a macabre dinner party coming on.

2. Bat wall hangings
If you want to go all out, stick these little cardstock bats all around your house. Bend them at the center so when the lights are dim, they cast shadows all around the room. Maybe they’re not that creepy, but they are kind of pretty.

3. Floating paper maché ghosts
Why buy those huge hanging ghosts when you can just make them instead? This one might take a little more time, but it’s so worth it. They’re cute during the day, and creepy at night.

4. Creepy family portraits
If you have Photoshop, or even GIMP, you can merge photos of your family members with skulls and other creepy faces and make these. It’s pretty easy, and with the right surrounding, it can look really freaky.

5. Baby doll serving dishes
Having a party? Then please don’t do this because it’s really scary and awful. No wait, that’s a great reason to do it. Nobody likes baby dolls. Who’s going to want to eat out of a baby doll’s stomach? Hopefully everyone.

6. Specimen Jars
Here’s an easy to way to gross out your guests and feed them at the same time. Everything in these specimen jars is edible, but it’s not exactly the best food out there. If you’re really cruel, don’t say a word about them until you start eating from them halfway through the night.Â

7. Hellraiser Pumpkin
Everyone loves decorating pumpkins, but you can take it one step further by stabbing your pumpkin with nails! Keep them in even rows and columns to make it look even more realistic, and score the spaces between the nails.Â

8. Eyeball Flowers
These are terrifying and unsettling. Just buy some fake flowers from a craft store and fake eyeballs from a Halloween store, and glue the eyeballs inside the flowers. You get these weird things. Make sure the flowers are dark to add to the Halloween effect.

9. Creepy dolls
Don’t you just love baby dolls? They’re so cute and not at all awful. Turn normal-looking creepy baby dolls into dark terrible creepy baby dolls by painting them black and gray with a makeup sponge. Super easy, and sure to scare someone out there. Just throw these all around your house for people to find where they won’t notice. In the bathroom, in closets… everywhere!

10. Snake Wreath
What is Martha Stewart doing showing us how to make something as freaky as this? Nobody likes snakes Martha, nobody. I think it looks great black, but the snakes seems to get lost a little (I’m sure it’s to give the effect that there are more snakes than there are) so I think it might even looks cool to leave the snakes their natural creepy color. Either way, this thing is the worst. Snakes… Why?
