Halloween is the season when you get to be who you want to be. It doesn’t matter if you’re a naughty doctor or a bad teacher. After all, it’s the one night of the year where you can dress up like a total sl*t and nobody can tell you anything about it, right? But, how do dudes feel about these overtly sexual costumes? Do they like them or what?
Truth be told, guys can agree to disagree on the sexy costumes. But, our real college guy, Raúl Solá, has put together some tips and rates from 1-10 about some of the women’s choices for liberating halloween costumes.
The Sexy Costumes: If you can pull it off, go for it! It’s one of the boys’ favorite categories! Have in mind other categories can be sexy too…
- 8-Playboy: From the Mansion to Mean Girls to your average Halloween party… this costume is one of the most popular. Girls love it and boys do too! Recommended for blondes, right Regina George?
- 8-School girl: This type of costume became more famous in the “Rebelde” era. There’s something about finally wearing the school skirt above the knee that girls love, but be careful, too far up and you’ll give the boys an “all access pass” kind of impression.
- 9-Tom Cruise in Risky Business: A Halloween classic… one of the easiest costumes to put together. Usually preferred for group costumes. Everybody loves this one!
- 7-Lara Croft: Brunettes, here’s where you shine! If you are a fit girl and not so much of a girly-girl, go for this costume. It’s sexy, yet conservative.
- 7-Sexy Devil or Angel: Everybody has a good and bad side. Wearing these kinds of costumes will make every guy tell a light joke about how sarcastic or accurate the costume fits your personality and/or reputation.
Career: In my opinion, my favorite category! Believe me; boys would agree…This category is all about imagination and fantasies.
- 8-Police Woman: You don’t feel like thinking of a costume to wear this Halloween? This costume fits practically anyone and will make boys want to be arrested…
- 8-Nurse: (Cough) I think I just caught a cold. There’s something about this costume that makes boys vulnerable. I guess being taken care of by a young, sexy nurse, is a common fantasy for all guys, including myself.
- 7-Firefighter: This costume is hot! But it doesn’t fit everyone. Be sure to try it on and ask for opinions, because it may extinguish your own fire.
- 9-Professor: Many guys can agree with me on this one. We have all had a hot and sexy teacher in school. The one who was worth getting in trouble for. There’s definitely something about the authority that’s so-so sexy!
- 9-Secretary: The classic boss/hot-secretary scenario. It may seem kind of sexist to some people, but this costume will still work for most of the guys. Ladies, use glasses!
Funny: Careful with this category! Take in consideration your personality and your intentions. If you want a guy to be interested in you for more than just one night, maybe this isn’t the right way to go. If you already know well your dude, and he enjoys your sense of humor, go for it!
- 7-Cartoon character: Sponge Bob, Dora the Explorer, Minnie Mouse, Little Mermaid, you name it! There are many characters to choose from, but, to be honest, this is not a costume that guys would normally prefer. It usually works better if you actually look like the character you’re dressing as.
- 8-Trending topic: Emerging new character, someone from the cast of a hit Netflix series or any other kind of thing you might think of… be sure that’s actually trending. It’s awkward to dress up as someone that people barely know of.
- 6-Boy’s outfit: Sometimes you feel the urge of dressing in a boy’s high school uniform or men’s clothes in general. Avoid it! It’s usually not that funny and kind of weird.
- 6-Old person: I have to admit, it’s actually a funny costume, but it depends where you wear it to and what’s the look that you are going for. For example, don’t wear it for a large event, maybe this costume is a more close get-together appropriate.
Scary: Another category that can easily go wrong. Same advice as before, it depends on your plan for that night. I’m just saying, I wouldn’t just go walking to a zombie and asking her to dance or have a drink… it’s kind of weird. Usually as a group, works much better.
- 6-Zombie: Girls just love make-up and this is an occasion to wear lots of it. Guys are usually skeptic about how girls look with makeup; imagine if you dress like this.
- 6-Vampire: This is a very flexible costume. You can go for the scary/bloody vampire or the sexy vampire. I know most of you like Twilight and decide to go for the look, but in my opinion, it’s a little outdated and guys usually don’t like it that much.
- 7-Witch: Another classic… This is the costume older women choose; I don’t get why. Some guys already think of girls as some kind of witches, so I guess this costume only reinforces this belief. It’s still popular one.
Historic: Very nice and peculiar category. I don’t know why, but usually girl’s favorite in the post-teen years. Take advantage of your looks especially in this one; it’ll make the costume look much better!
- 6-Gladiator or warrior: This one may easily fall under the funny category. Not much people can pull this one of and look sexy. It may work best if you’re making a statement about your drinking skills.
- 8-Native Indian: I’d say it’s almost compulsory to look like Pocahontas to actually make the most out of this costume. Either way, it’s a sexy costume and most guys love it, so maybe it works for you too.
- 7-Pirate: For a very peculiar taste. The costume may remind guys of the time they ate at a Florida Pirate’s Cabin or the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. The plus side of this costume is that you get to wear tons of liner, so if you have nice eyes, they will certainly standout.
- 8-Sailor: Girls love to dress up as sailors. It’s definitely a sexy one, but not one of my favorites.
Others:
- 6-Couple’s outfit: Girls love to do it; most of the guys don’t. Don’t pressure guys into dressing up; ask them about doing it first. The competition between couples is far more serious than between single girls for instance, so maybe it’s best to dress up separately.
- 4-No costume: Lame.
- 7-Superhero: Superwoman … that’s about it.
- 5-Sport: Careful with this one. It can go one of three ways: you may look manly, you may look too ordinary or in some cases, extremely sexy. Take your chances.
My overall tips are to:
- Control the urge to dress extremely “provocative” (Leave some space for imagination).
- If in a relationship, remember you’re not single (you know what I mean).
- Dress up, don’t be a party-pooper.
- You must have noticed that I didn’t choose a favorite or assigned a 10. That’s because all costumes are relative to who wears them and how they fit. TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION YOUR NATURAL LOOKS AND MAKE SURE THAT THE COSTUME THAT YOU ARE WEARING FITS.
- Always think in advance what your intentions are.
