Fashion Feature: The Best & Worst Emmy’s 2013

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Along with being the first day of fall, Sunday also marked the first awards show of the season: The Emmy’s.  Celebrating onscreen television success, the Emmy’s are sure to bring out every celebrity from all of your favorite shows. If you’re anything like my roommates and I, you were plopped in front of the TV watching “E! Coverage” from 5 pm onward. From the best dressed to the worst dressed and everything in between, there is something so fun about watching awards show fashion and critiquing outfit choices. What is it that captures all of our attention and makes us idolize those that strut down the coveted Red Carpet? So without further ado, here are my picks for the Emmy’s best and worst dressed 2013.

Best Dressed

1.     Kerry Washington in Marchesa—This simple, ethereal gown was perfect for Kerry Washington and even though I’m a little bitter that she didn’t win for her role as Olivia Pope in Scandal, she still looked amazing.

2.     Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren—I loved the simplicity of this dress against the stunning cobalt blue color that a few other actresses wore as well. I think that this dress, because of both it’s color and style, was perfect for the Emmy’s, which are still so early in the season. Must admit, I also have some serious hair envy with this look.

3.     Linda Cardelinni in Donna Karen Atelier—First of all, the color of this dress is amazing. Secondly, the volume is perfect. The origami type gown is always popular on the Red Carpet, but this is definitely one of the best representations that I’ve seen.

Worst Dressed

1.     Connie Britton in Naeem Khan—While it pains me to say anything bad about my girl Tami Taylor, velvet is just not a good look….ever. Her hair looked amazing, as usual, and the jewelry was gorgeous, but the dress just didn’t work.

2.     Zosia Mamet in Honor—I don’t know how else to put this except for that this dress is just weird. The mix of florals and a tiny leather bustier creates a super strange combination. Deemed by my roommates at the “tiny boob dress,” this watercolor disaster wasn’t doing her any favors.

3.     Anna Farris in Monique Lhullier—While the dress itself it pretty, the color just didn’t work with her fair skin and super blonde, almost wig-like, hair. Also, the lizard pin crawling up her back is bizarre and makes no sense. Anna is an actress always known with a comedic disposition, unfortunately in this case her outfit matched that. Definitely a miss.

So what do you think HCBC readers? Do you agree with the best and worst dressed that we have for the 2013 Emmy’s? In your opinion, who shined and who should be shunned? Let us know!
