The formula is simple: cute outfit, cute hair, and a cute smile will ultimately lead to a win for the Dawgs. Here in the south, we ladies do not simply throw on jeans and a tank top for football games. We’ve turned a rough-and-tough sport into our own personal fashion show, and why not? There’s nothing wrong with bringing a little glamour into football and, as a freshman, if you don’t know you will learn. You may get used to throwing on your cleanest pair of running shorts and date night tee to class but Georgia football games are a serious fashion matter.
So why do we Southern girls get dolled up for football games? Because it’s tradition! Southern ladies are all about class and, as the reigning hottest of the hottest girls in the SEC, Georgia girls are especially tied to their routine of pulling out their best sundresses and looking like they’ve been pulled straight from a magazine. We’re just supporting our team in a way only a woman can- by looking exquisite as we yell at our defense. Not every girl is truly “into” football, and getting dressed up for the games provide a perfect alternative reason to look forward to amping up the crowd during football season. It’s imperative and, also, super fun to dress up, so it’s rare that you’ll see a true Georgia girl out in less than her Sunday best.
So, now that you’ve been schooled on the importance of looking picturesque on game days, here’s a little help if you’re not sure how fancy is fancy enough.
Do
Go Maxi. Maxi skirts and dresses are fun, flirty, and really in right now. They’ll provide you with a sleek look that’s still appropriate for the blaring heat. The best part is there are so many ways you could accessorize a maxi; cute skirt knots, bows, necklaces. Because they’ll probably cover your shoes, you could use that to your advantage and wear your favorite flats for comfort and ease.
Go Chevron. You can hardly live in a college town without seeing a chevron dress once or twice. The beauty of chevron dresses is that it instantly looks like you’ve tried to look cute without doing too much work (something other girls will appreciate). How you accessorize beyond the dress is the key. It’s a busy pattern that does most of the work for you so be careful to not over do it with crazy shoes or wacky jewelry.
Bleed Red, Black, & White! The finest colors in the land can make any girl look flattering so wear them with pride. If black isn’t your thing, compensate with a subtle white dress and a pop of red. If all black is your staple, acknowledge the other colors with a UGA pin or a red purse. Remember, these are OUR Dawgs, OUR team, and OUR colors so get inventive.

Don’t
Wear anything that will compromise you. It gets hot and people get crazy so keep your outfit insurance in mind.
Put your clothes through a sweat test. There’s nothing worse than having an outfit ruined in front of everyone by your rapidly growing sweat stains.
Wear heels if you can’t walk in them. We say yes to heels but if you can’t walk in them it’s better to find a cute pair of flats. It’s a football game so you and your fellow Dawgs will get rowdy. Your clumsy side may choose now to make a debut.
