Meet the Bubbly Michelle Cruz (’14)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

You’ve probably seen Michelle Cruz around campus – with a bubbly personality that exudes positive energy, she’s hard to ignore. This Boston University senior (SED’14) hails from Long Island, NY, with goals of becoming a teacher and an inspiration to her students. “I always wanted to be a teacher, I had a really good teacher growing up and I wanted to be that person for someone else.”

She’s super involved on campus- between intramurals, student government, and Greek Life, it’s a shock she finds time to enjoy the Esplanade and Newbury, some of her favorite spots in the city.

While she is adorable in a Starbucks on a Saturday morning in casual clothes and large rimmed glasses, she’s also big on self-esteem; a personal cheerleader for her closest friends. In high school, she loved slam poet Katie Makkai’s piece “Will I be Pretty?”

“[I liked] hearing it and remembering that you can be more than pretty… I like to remind other people about that,” said Cruz. Such a powerful personal philosophy is embedded in her involvement with her sorority through their philanthropy work. She also takes special care to compliment herself each morning (what a great way to start your day!) before walking out the door. “You should always leave with a compliment, your day will be better if you start with a compliment.”

This SED major is also obsessed with foreign places, with a goal to travel all over the world. Her bucket list includes Greece, Ireland, Morroco, and everywhere in between. She can mark Australia off her list as she is spending this semester in Sydney!

Quinn Rodriguez is a junior at Boston University in the School of Management. Coming from beautiful Los Angeles, she deals with the Boston Winters, but loves spring more. Serving as the PR Chair for her fraternity Delta Kappa Alpha is pretty much her favorite thing ever, right next to red lipstick and people watching. Check her out at: http://quinnrodriguezonline.wordpress.com
