New York is the place to be this week if you love fashion! This September 5th – 12th marks Mercedes-Benz semi-annual Fashion Week for the upcoming Spring 2014 Collections.
Each year in February and September, designers from all over the world reveal their new line for the upcoming season. These two weeks out of the year are crucial to not only the designers, but also to the models, photographers, journalists, buyers and retailers. You are even sure to see your favorite celebrities seated along the runway checking out the newest looks!
My favorite new collection thus far is definitely Kate Spade. Deborah Lloyd, the president and chief creative officer of Kate Spade, revealed her collection called, “Places to Go, People to See” inspired by Lloyd’s travels through the colorful gardens and quaint streets of Europe. Staying true to the Kate Spade brand, there are several dresses with bow detailing, which wonderfully express sophistication without looking childish. If you prefer a little more edge to your wardrobe there is a fantastic black and white striped top and two red-hot cocktail dresses that would be sure to knock anyone dead. Last, but not least, there are several unique accessories ranging from a black and white checkered clutch, to a handbag with the embroidered saying, “When Life Gives You Lemons… Make Limoncello.” Now who could resist that?
What I love about the Kate Spade line is that you could easily wear any of these pieces in the office, out with friends or to Sunday brunch. With some of the other high-end lines, many of the pieces are impractical for daily life. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t get invited to a lot of red carpets.
