Have you ever sat through a boring economics or statistics lecture and walked out feeling blank? I know I have.

A majority of the reason you’re daydreaming through Mr. Boremasters lectures could be because you didn’t have time to stop at Marketplace for a quick bite to eat after rolling out of bed 10 minutes before class started. Or it could be because you only had a cup of coffee before you left your apartment this morning. As much as you’d hate to admit it, Mom was right when she told you, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” Food is fuel for your brain to function, so feed yourself with the best fuel possible so you don’t fall asleep on that guys shoulder again.

Here’s a list of brain boosting foods to get you through this semester.

Blueberries

Blueberries are said to reduce memory loss and reduce stress. Blueberries also are known for their high amounts of Vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants. Throw those suckers in your cereal or oatmeal before class

Dark Chocolate

If you are ever having that creeping chocolate craving, snack on dark chocolate. But remember only in moderation! One of the main active stimulants in dark chocolate is caffeine which will prevent you hitting the snooze button during that stats lecture.

Tea

Before class drop by Starbucks in the Breezeway and grab one those freshly brewed iced teas before class. Not only will the caffeine make you more alert during class, it will improve your overall mood as well.

Nuts and Seeds

Pack up a quick trail mix full of peanuts or almonds to snack on, on your way to class. The Vitamin E will not only help you skin, but will help improve your long term memory.

Whole Grains

Foods that contain whole grains such as whole wheat bread and oatmeal are heart healthy foods. With better heart flow, more oxygen is getting to the brain which in turn makes it work more. So, try substituting wheat bread for white next time you’re making a sandwich.

I hope everyone uses these quick and convenient health tips this semester!
