We’re kicking off this year’s Campus Celeb lineup with none other than the myth, the man, the legend- Sammy from CampCo! If you go to UNH and don’t know Sammy, you really should get to know him. Not only does he deal with the pure chaos that comes with us Wildcats, but runs a very successful business at the same time.
We had the satisfaction of going into Campus Convenience and having a sober conversation with Sammy, a rare occurrence for a lot of us.

Did you attend college? If so, what did you study, and where?
Sammy studied Hospitality Management in Bombay and received his Masters from Singapore Institute of Commerce (SIC).
How long have you owned CampCo?
I bought it seven years ago.
Is CampCo a family owned business?
No. Me and my friends do. We share all the work, like prepping, stocking, cooking, cashier. There are six employees total.
What is your favorite part about the job?
“Just the college atmosphere. You want to see some videos?”
Sammy then showed us his coveted collection of ridiculous incidences where UNH students were doing things that they wouldn’t want to be caught on tape. From a girl attempting to deviously pee on the CampCo floor, to a guy exposing himself while in line at the register, to a drunk girl in heels face planting trying to carry out a thirty of Busch, Sammy has seen it all.
“I plan to blur the faces and send to Tosh.0, we will be famous.”
What’s the funniest story you have throughout your time here?
“Definitely the drunk girl in heels. I watch that whenever I need a good laugh.”
Does dealing with intoxicated college students night after night ever get annoying?
“Not really, it’s pretty entertaining. You really never know what’s going to happen on the weekends. Actually, any night. You guys are crazy.”
So, tell us about the Freddy Special. Why is it called that and what is in it?
“I named it after a brother in Theta who worked with me back in 2007. His name was Freddy and he always made it for himself and it eventually caught on with others, so we decided to make it a thing. Now you guys can’t get enough of it.”
The Freddy sauce is made of Sweet and Sour, Hot Sauce, Crushed Red Pepper, Oregano, and some other secret ingredients.
Do you eat Freddy Specials yourself?
“Once a week at least.”
What do you do when you’re not working?
“Well I am always here working during the school year, but during the summer, I travel a lot. I’ve been to Germany, India, and Austria in the past few years.”
What is your favorite song?
“Anything by Biggie Smalls”
Do you plan to continue working here for a long time?
“I don’t know, when I am older, I don’t think I can deal with drunk college kids all the time.”
Do you encounter a lot of fake IDs?
“Yes.”
What is your favorite beer?
“I love all craft beers and IPAs. Lagunitas is maybe my favorite.”
Who is your favorite customer?
“I cant answer that. All of them. Everyone knows me and I know all of them too.”
