Dear Collegiettes,
Welcome (back) to Barnard and Columbia University! We are so grateful to have you stop by our page to explore a brand new year’s collection of compelling and entertaining content. As we continue to use our daily activities on campus and the spectacular city of New York as our canvas, we only hope to continue voicing YOUR opinions on the issues that define a Barnard collegiette – young women’s lifestyles, relationships, the arts, careers, health, wellness, and of course, style! The Barnard experience is truly like no other and it’s important that what we read reflects the values of such a spectacular, challenging place. For the Class of 2017 in particular, Her Campus Barnard hopes to guide you in connecting to campus life while also giving you the perfect tool to lightly procrastinate with during long, bleary-eyed nights in Butler or something to click through with your Sunday cup of coffee.
Her Campus Barnard hopes to add something original to the already vibrant journalism scene on campus with stories and images that pertain directly to your daily life. We’ve written about it all: 20 reasons to love may, #programplanningproblems, and even more controversial issues like Digital Abuse in Dating. We want you to write about the thing you most want to read, and have fun while doing it! We’re here to support your ideas and your voice, so we give you the opportunity to write as much or as little as you want! We are always here to help, guide, and inspire your pitches, and support our writers throughout the entire writer’s process.
The editors have planned some really exciting things for the magazine so far, but we are always looking to add contributors to our team. We encourage as many people as possible to get involved, whether it’s by creating a biweekly column on a topic you’re passionate about, taking trend photos for our Campus style section, writing lifestyle pieces about college life, or covering one event in the city that you’ve planned your season around. Reach out to us at alexandrashapiro@hercampus.com and lianagergely@hercampus.com if you’re interested in being part of our wonderful community!
