As we transition from the warm days of summer, to the chillier days of fall, it’s time to shift our wardrobes. It is easy to make the transition when you have just a few staple items. These pieces can be added to summer looks to create a brand new autumn look!
Infinity Scarf
A chunky, knit infinity scarf is a great “throw-on” item that can transition any season outfit into fall. They are also extremely practical, with the colder weather of Boone sneaking up on us, as they are cozy and keep you extremely warm. An infinity scarf also can be added to a t-shirt/leggings combo to add flair to an outfit that may be dull. They are also easy to knit if you are looking for a fun, DIY this fall. This season, look for colors like cranberry, mustard and earth tones, which can go with almost any wardrobe piece. Here’s an option for an affordable, knitted infinity scarf:

Combat Boots
Combat boots are a great staple piece to have because you can wear them with dresses, jeans, leggings, skirts and even shorts. Because they are not your “typical” boot, they can be a spunky addition to a feminine outfit. This style of boot emerged during the grunge stages of the 1990’s, so having a little bit of ruggedness and scuffing is perfectly fine in this style. However, if you are going for a more polished look, a pair in good condition would make your outfit “cleaner.” These come in all colors and even patterns. Yesterday, I stumbled across some great styles at Lucky Penny boutique on King Street:

Tights
Tights are probably the best summer to fall transition piece you can have in your wardrobe. Those adorable cotton summer dresses can be re-vamped into a fall outfit with the addition of a cute pair of tights. Tights come in all styles, but the patterned ones can be paired with a simple, solid dress to complete an outfit. Patterned tights also can give a feminine flair to your look. Here are some polka-dot patterned tights that would look great this fall:

Chunky Cardigan
A long, neutral, thick cardigan can keep you both warm and can make any outfit complete. You can put it over a dress or a shirt and pair it with any of the above items for a cute fall look. This item, like the knitted infinity scarf, is also practical in the chilly Boone weather and will keep you cozy when the temperature drops! Check out this great one from Asos:
