Last Call at Charleston’s Finest Restaurants

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

There are obviously loads of things to love in Charleston—the beaches, the campus, the culture. However, the food is the aspect that I think should be most revered. People travel from all over the world to visit our restaurants: places that we, for the most part, take for granted. For most of us, in just one or two short weeks we will bid farewell to Charleston for the summer – and goodbye to all the fine dining experiences it offers. For your benefit, here is a short list of the places you have to go to before it’s too late, and before you go into food withdrawal during the long, hot months of summer.

  • Mellow Mushroom: Even for someone who criticizes most pizza that isn’t from New York or New Jersey, I’m going to miss Mellow’s gourmet personal pies. Definitely stop in for the signature chicken pesto pizza before heading back up north.
  • The fro-yo location of your choice. Whether it’s Freshberry, YoMo, 32 Degrees, Sweet Cece’s, Sweet Frog’s
  • Nick’s BBQ: Especially for Northerners, you gotta get in your barbeque fix while you still can.
  • King Street Grille: I don’t know about you, but I don’t get the opportunity to eat food that’s on the same level as their waffle fries and pretzel bun burgers at home.
  • Late-night stop of your choice: whether it’s the hot dog stand, Gilroy’s, Spring Roll, Sab’s….you’re gonna miss it when you’re gone!
  • Juanita’s: Enjoy their signature nachos or quesadillas one last time before summer (and a pitcher of margs for those over 21 of course!)
  • Wild Wing Café:  I’m actually a bit sad now because I definitely didn’t go here enough this semester. I actually, literally went through withdrawals last summer.
  • Cupcake: One last cupcake. It’ll be worth the calories, promise.
