Plan Your Week
It’s a no-brainer that you should write down the days and times of your final exams, but you should also do the same for when you will study for them. Block out this time for nothing but studying so you can be focused without other priorities hanging over your head. Knowing when you will study will help you clear your head before you start and make it easier to focus and retain information.
Make Your Environment Relaxing
If you are hanging out in a crowded library and people around you are laughing and being noisy, you wouldn’t expect to get anything done. So make your study environment the most relaxing environment you can. Organize the area, light some candles and turn music on low. If you are focused and not stressed out because of the pile of laundry you need to wash then you are sure to be prepared for your exam.
Take a Break
Cramming all of the information for a test in an hour is not going to help your grade. Study a little information at a time and take five minute breaks when needed. Make some coffee, pet your dog, check your email–just take your mind off of studying for a few minutes instead of sitting at your desk all day and not moving.
Leave the Test in the Classroom
It’s never a good feeling when you walk into an exam and you know you’re not ready for it. If you have studied and tried your hardest and you still get a lower grade than desired, it can really mess with your head. Just remember that when you walk out the door after the exam there is nothing you can do. You turned the test in and now you are finished so focus on celebrating–not worrying until final grades are posted!
