Having some good tunes to listen to and keep you going while you’re studying and/or doing homework is always a great idea. If you’re someone who can actually do work with music on, these songs may be good for you. I find listening to music that I wouldn’t know the words to right away to be a bit more helpful, especially when I need to stay focused on an assignment. It’s a good idea to even listen to ambient music, simple instrumentals, or maybe even classical music.
Here, I have put together five songs that I have in my arsenal of music. Every song on this list is a song that I have added to my “Studying Flow” playlist. Each song has a variety of low and high intensities that will assist in maintaining your mood for studying! This list of songs vary in pace to maintain your attention. If you find yourself getting very drowsy while studying, be sure to incorporate some very energetic tunes. They might come in handy for the moments when you slip into one of those 30-45 second naps!
Depending on what kind of work you’re studying, you should cater your music choices to that subject. For example, when I’m doing physics or any type of subject that calls for computation, I can listen to whatever… Lyrics or no lyrics, it doesn’t matter. But, say I’m trying to focus on psychology or writing a paper, I have to listen to tunes that have minimal to no lyrics at all. I hope some (but really all) of these make it into your collection if they haven’t already.
1. Massive Attack- Dissolved Girl [By the way, this group’s song “Teardrop” is the intro for the TV show House.]
2. Portishead- Glory Box
3. Bonobo- Ketto
4. The XX- Shelter
5. Trifonic- Sooner Or Later
Happy listening, and good luck on all of your finals!
