Here at Her Campus, we like to help our fellow classmates!  This is our #Bryant2017 Series where we will be writing numerous articles that will help ease the transition from “senior fever” to the new kid on block here in Smithfield. For this article, we wanted to get you familiar with some of the Bryant slang.  We came up with 17 words that flow out of our students mouths on a daily basis, came up with 17 definitions for those words, and wrote them down here!  Were our definitions not clear enough? Comment below with your questions and we will answer them for you!  Now let us educate you…
Â
A
A.C.E (N.) Ace is the Academic Center for Excellence. This is where you can get tutoring help for any of your classes (take advantage of this, they are extremely helpful).
Archway (N) Arech-way : DO NOT WALK UNDER. This is the arch near the bridge over the pond. The legend says if you walk under it, you won’t graduate!
Â
B
Bello (N.) Bell-oh : Bello is a grand hall in the library where many guest speakers, dinners, and class competitions are held.Â
Â
Â
Bulldog Bucks (N): Your bulldog bucks is money on your Student ID card, you can use them anywhere on campus like the bookstore, all food locations on campus, snack machines, library copiers, the Post Office, and can be used at laundry facilities. (You get $25 at the beginning of each year and can replenish your account whenever you need).
Â
D
Dining Dollars (N): Dining Dollars is also money on your ID card. Dining Dollars can be used at South or the Cafés in library and the roto. The amount of dining dollars you have varies on the meal plan that you have.  We suggest getting the 19 meal plan, which is the max!  We suggest this because you can change it within the first few weeks of the semester and by then you will know how many meals you actually will want to eat each week.

Festival of Lights: A gathering of the Bryant community right before the students leave to go home for winter break. Each religion is represented, songs are played and candles are lit making the roto light up and look magical. Â The picture below is a result of everyone’s lit candles reflecting off the roto ceiling. From the roto, everyone walks to the tree outside of the interfaith center where it is lit up with Christmas Lights! Â
Finals Relaxation Day: This takes place once a semester in the roto and it is awesome! There are massage therapists, a chocolate fondue fountain, aromatherapy and more! This definitely helps lift some stress during finals. Â Oh, and there also are puppies to play with!
Â
J
Janikies (N.) Jan-e-keys : Janikies is the auditorium where a lot of events on campus occur; including guest speakers, plays, performances, and different seminars. It is located on the outskirt of the Roto.
Â
M
Marge (N.) Mar-ge : Marge is an adorable woman who works at Salmo. Check out her campus cutie article to get to know her a little better!
Â
R

ROTO (N.)Â Row-toe : the roto is short for the rotounda. This is the central location for everyone in between classes and throughout the day. It has a huge glass ceiling and is impossible to miss.

President Machtley and his wife Kati are extremely active on campus and you’ll see them walking around campus on the reg. Don’t be alarmed if they grab a seat with you for lunch or dinner in Salmo; they like to eat there with students from time to time, that’s how awesome our President is.Â
Tupper (N.)Tup-per : Tupper is our mascot. Yes we have a real live bulldog for a mascot. You’ll see Tupper around campus a lot (probably being pushed in a stroller) but he is also in the picture above!Â
