After an insufferable winter, spring is finally here on the East Coast! It’s time to put away those chunky knit Madewell cardigans and crewneck sweaters and make room for a few new essential pieces for spring.
1. Low-heeled pointed shoes zara vamp shoe w/ ankle straps $49.90
One trend from the runways of Fashion Week is low-heeled pointed shoes. These low-heeled ankle strap black and white pumps from Zara are a perfect example. These pumps are modern and chic. As a bonus, they also showcase another spring 2013 fashion trend: black and white.
2. Cut-out pieces
Another huge trend this season are deconstructed, laser-cut pieces such as this beautifully cut dress from Donna Karan. Nastygal’s Front Row maxi dress, $78, has strategically placed cuts around the midriff that are a bit risque but at the same time not too over the top. With a few slashes here and there, take a plain basic tee to the next level like with this Nastygal Slash Tee for $30.
3. Stripes
I love this Oscar De la Renta maxi dress. Who knew that a white and navy striped maxi dress could be so elegant and refined? Stripes are huge this season. They were seen everywhere from Michael Kors to Tommy Hilfiger. This Winona black and white striped tank dress from Nastygal, $182, is a more practical option for day-to-day wear with a deep scoop neckline and a flirty, flouncy bottom.
4. Chambray/denim
Chambray and denim have been popular for a while now. This trend will continue onto this season with designers coming up with new ways to recreate chambray and denim, such as mixing the two or creating patchwork pieces. Zara’s two tone chambray shirt, $79.90, is an updated version of the classic shirt.
