Some of the most influential people in our lives can only be found in a book. We asked HC Chatham team members to share their ideal literary mentors for this Campus Celebrity Special Edition.
Amy Chau, Social Media Director
Mad-Eye Moody from Harry Potter. Constant vigilante!!
Catherine Giles, Sustainability Writer
I would pick Dumbledore because he is very experienced and I feel like he would be very open-minded, especially about the LGBT community.
Paige Owens, Writer
I would choose Kristina from Crank. Even though Kristina is constantly putting herself into negative situations, she is also learning from her mistakes. She would be a good mentor to help steer me away from the negative things in life.
Shannon Ward, News/Lifestyle Writer
If I could have one character from literature as my mentor, I would choose Death from Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief. Throughout The Book Thief, Death is a very knowledgeable and likeable character. He has so much insight into the human mind and he has a million stories to tell. Not only that, but his humor is absolutely hilarious.
Onastasia Youssef, Blog Section Editor and Entertainment Writer
Lestat from The Vampire Chronicles. When I came to Chatham, I was as meek as a mouse. There’s no better role model when it comes to building up a killer confidence! (All puns intended.)
