A couple of Sundays ago the 85th Annual Academy Awards Ceremony took place, more commonly known as the Oscars. Although it’s exciting to see who has won what, the most exciting part for us at Her Campus was who was wearing what! This event is the biggest on any celebrity’s red carpet calendar so the outfits were completely amazing and over the top. There were so many amazing dresses, here’s a little selection in more detail.
Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence was recently named the new face of the Miss Dior campaign so it was no surprise that she was sporting a Dior Couture gown for the event. The stunning white dress featured a drop waist which showed off her gorgeous curves. Jennifer went on to win the award for Best Actress, unfortunately her dress embarrassingly caused her to trip up on the way to collecting her award. Maybe next time she should sneak some flats in her bag in case she has to collect another award!
Anne Hathaway
In a pale pink satin Prada gown Anne Hathaway looked sweet and demure. The dress was simple with an elegant cut that flattered Anne’s small frame. She topped off the unfussy outfit with a generous amount of Tiffany & Co. diamonds which made the look a little more exciting. Anne went on to win Best Supporting Actress for her fantastic acting in Les Miserables.Â

Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron opted for Dior Couture, but unlike Jennifer Lawrence this dress was more modern than classic. Its sharp V-shaped neckline and harsh peplum make this dress quite futuristic which Charlize pulls off fantastically with her cropped hair. She keeps the jewels to a minimum, letting her dress do the talking. Not many people could pull off such a clean cut white gown, but Charlize rocks it.
Adele
Â
Staying true to her regular style, Adele wore a stunning black gown. British designer and Kate Middleton favourite Jenny Packham designed this embellished number. Completely adorned in beads and sequins this dress was perfect for Adele’s Oscar performance. The shape and proportions are hugely flattering, showing off Adele’s waist perfectly. The British star took home an Oscar for her song Skyfall.

Kristen Stewart
Â
Kristen Stewart cracked out the couture for Oscars in Reem Acra. As she is usually more of a tomboy it was refreshing to see Kristen in such a girlie, romantic gown. This pale blush strapless dress was completely hand beaded in a leafy pattern. The sweetheart neckline flatters Kristen’s frame and the nipped in waist enhanced her curves.
Â
Jessica Chastain
Â
This beautiful gown was custom-designed by Giorgio Armani for Jessica. It features an overlay of white sequins and crystals on top of a structured gown with a small train. The colour looks incredible with Jessica’s glowing hair and fair complexion, and the embellishment adds just the right amount of glamour. She chose to leave her neck bare so no attention was drawn from the neckline, but added vintage Harry Winston diamond bracelets to her wrists.

Jennifer Aniston
Â
Â
Jennifer glowed in this bright red Valentino strapless gown. A red Valentino dress is a timeless classic and Jen pulls it off beautifully. This particular one features a full skirt which made her waist look tiny. Jen looked effortlessly gorgeous and youthful with her simple hair and make up, which was the perfect accompaniment to such a bold dress.

Â
Eddie Redmayne
Â
Â
Not only were we ogling over the dresses at the Oscars, we were also checking out the men! Eddie Redmayne looked ever so handsome an Alexander McQueen tuxedo. The skinny cut and sharp fit topped off with a crisp white shirt was enough to make us go weak at the knees.Â
Â
Â
Amanda Seyfried
Like Mr Redmayne, Amanda chose Alexander McQueen for the red carpet. Her stunning gown was made of lilac organza embroidered in a leafy pattern. The key hole neckline kept this dress youthful and the clinched in waist flattered her curves beautifully. By styling her hair in an up-do Amanda focused all the attention on her dress.Â
Â
Â
The award season has now come to a sad end, but we can’t wait to see what gowns appear on the red carpet next time.
