Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture
I loved her pale blush pink Dior princess-like ballgown. It’s the perfect gown for the Oscars. It’s big, voluminous, and elegant at the same time. She looked incredibly well put together with her hair up and minimal jewelry.
Jessica Chastain in Armani Privé
Her Veronica Lake curls and her beige-jeweled Armani Privé dress is the epitome of old Hollywood glamour. She looked like a screen siren from the ’40s.
Sally Field in Valentino
This red Valentino dress was age-appropriate and stunning. I loved the ruffled train and the gathered pleated fabric in the front. It’s hard to be able to look this good at her age. Who says you can’t wear whatever you want at any age?
Misses
Helena Bonham Carter Vivienne Westwood
You can always find Helena Bonham Carter on worst dressed lists. This time she made the worst dressed list in Vivienne Westwood. Her style is eccentric, much like the roles she plays. This black and white dress is frumpy and frilly. The bottom is too large and hides her figure, making her look larger than she actually is.
Jennifer Hudson in Roberto Cavalli
This one was a huge miss. She looks more fit to play in an off-Broadway production of Under the Sea than fit to be at the Oscars. The dress looks tacky and cheap, and the blue scale-like sequins don’t help.
Melissa McCarthy in David Meister
The color and overall design of the dress is unremarkable. There is too much fabric, and the fit is too loose. The gathering at the hips actually makes her hips seem wider than they are. She should have picked a dress that accentuated her waist, which would make her look slimmer, giving that hourglass appearance.
