It has been said that when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. But what if your hope is to make something original, something “you,” out of life’s gifts? Straying from the norm in order to achieve a lifelong goal or to reach a place of fulfillment can be very trying, but that is not to say it isn’t worth it.
Life has a way of showing us what we’re made of at the most unexpected times. It is easy to feel like you have nothing left to offer the world when you feel as though you have given your best to everything and have still come up short. I’ve been there; you’ve been there; we all have been there. But somehow, we always find a way to move forward, to overstep the boundaries that we so immediately place on ourselves in times of defeat.
Harriet Tubman fearlessly acted on her passion because she knew the key to living a life of happiness and wholeness. She knew that to live in fear and without passion was pointless and foolish. This is something that we must remind ourselves of every single day. In the troubled and chaotic world that we live in, it is easy to forget about all of the beauty and magic that surrounds us. We get so caught up in the negativity that we force on ourselves, and others project onto us, that we lose sight of the incredible gift we all hold within us that makes the negative things in life seem so much smaller. This gift is our personal passion, the thing that we love so much. Our love for it sets us apart from the rest of humanity.
Passion is the sole source of motivation and encouragement in the darkest of times, and as we rise up as a strong generation of women who have a lot to offer the world, we cannot lose it.
We all have dreams. The girl walking past you down the street dreams of being a fashion designer. The man that serves you your coffee each morning dreams of having his own business empire. You dream of being an actress, a novelist, or a singer; maybe you dream of being all three. There is no reason why circumstances we presently experience have to define the future. If you want something, go get it. You are strong. You are patient. And most importantly, you are passionate. With all of this in mind and at heart, there is no excuse not to make your dream a reality.
