Quick Tips: Learning a Language

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

Are you learning a new language this semester? Here, three HC Chatham team members share their quick tips for making the process easier.

Amy Chau, Social Media Director

“Form study groups with your classmates and converse with them in the language you’re learning. The best way to learn a language is to use it. Converse with native speakers. Chatham has many foreign students, you will find one that would love too speak with you in her native tongue!”

Casey Deer, Business Team Member

“Study in a quiet area. Take advantage of the library at Chatham.”

Catherine Giles, Sustainability Writer

“Learning another language is a lot of memorizing at first. There are some times when it won’t make sense at first; after a few lessons, you will understand and things will be clear. Don’t freak out if at first you don’t understand. Also, color coding is really beneficial—if you do flash cards, write all the action words in a specific color pen or use the same color post card for one particular lesson. Anything to help you remember!”
