After enduring Hurricane Sandy, the city of New York has had dealt with enough storms and natural disasters for the decade.
Amidst the continued recovery from Hurricane Sandy, New York city and the rest of the East Coast now has to deal with Snowstorm Nemo. Of course, several “finding Nemo” and “fighting Nemo” puns have been thrown around since news of the snowstorm was released.
The storm has already caused several flight cancellations as it is expected to bring in around 14 inches of snow.
Before Nemo touched down, Newark airport had the most flight cancellations for today’s flights.
Just like he did for Hurricane Sandy, Governor Cuomo is opening up an operations center to help out with coordinating response efforts. The governor plans on using state and local resources to do all that he can to take care of the issue.
The MTA is prepared for the snowstorm ahead of time by de-icing cars and using special equipment to keep the outdoor tracks safe and clear for commuters. With that being said, this weather is bound to make for an interesting week for fashionistas who are venturing out to New York Fashion Week events.
In the meantime, The MTA and the governor are doing all they can to keep New Yorkers safe and sound.Â
