Name: Sara Hardgrove

Year: Senior

Major: Marketing, Economics Minor

Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pa.

Relationship Status: Single

Don’t let this pretty face fool you, this collegiette is anything but your typical girly girl. She’s not easily pleased by wining and dining, but instead loves a good hockey game, a cold beer, and a little competition.

HC: What made you want to come to Penn State?

Sara: One of my older brothers came here and he’s like my best friend and I always came to visit him. I actually only applied to one school, which is obviously Penn State but went to Penn State Behrend in Erie for my first two years and transferred here as a Junior.

HC: What’s your favorite Penn State memory?

Sara: I think my favorite memory was the last football game I went to this season. It really hit home that I was about to leave the happiest place on earth.

HC: What’s your ideal date?

Sara: A Pittsburgh Penguins Game, and if not that, then just going to bar to watch the game. Actually, any kind of sporting event but I would prefer hockey. Growing up with two older brothers I really enjoy anything with sports or competition.

HC: Considering we all live in State College, would it be a deal breaker for a guy to be a Flyers Fan?

Sara: As long as he was okay with the fact that I’m a Penguins Fan and we accepted each other for that then I would be okay with it. I think it could be funny, or it could be a disaster. The right guy could make it fun, and the rivalry could add something interesting to the relationship. I would love to wear my Penguins Jersey to a Flyers game!

HC: What are three qualities you look for in a guy?

Sara: Hands down, funny. If you can make me laugh I would like you a lot more. He also has to be a little sensitive, but not too sensitive. Just enough to show he cares. And the last is genuine. He has to be an all around good guy that other people get along with, especially my family and friends.

HC: What’s the first physical characteristic that you notice about a guy?

Sara: He has to be tall. All the guys in my family are over 6 foot. And, I don’t know, I like look up at people!

HC: After you’ve found a guy that has all the qualities you like, what’s the number one thing you value in your relationship with him?

Sara: Each other’s friends. I have a big family and a lot of friends at Penn State and at home. I need my girl time, and he has to have his guy time with his friends. Friendship is very important to me, and I want my guy to value that too. It’s important for me to balance all the relationships in my life. I want his friends to love me, and I want my friends to love him.

HC: Celebrity crush?

Sara: Sidney Crosby. I mean, I live only a few minutes from the city so I feel like it’s kind of realistic, right?

HC: If you could be any type of food what would you be?

Sara: A potato chip. Because, first of all, who doesn’t love potato chips? Also, it’s one of those things that I could never give up even when I’m dieting. They are my guilty pleasure. Potato chips and Jimmy Johns.
