Wth the chilly weather, it is hard to get the motivation and inspiration to dress up for class. Though, it is bitterly cold walking on campus and you want nothing more to put on a pair of leggings and sweatshirt, it is no excuse to not look your best. I’ll let you all in on a little secret…even with a closet full of clothes and the absolute intuition to come up with new outfits, I fall back into a routine. In a way, it is more or less a uniform. While the originality is most certainly not there, it is easy and it takes the guess work out of getting dressed.
Ditch the sweats and find your “uniform.” Trust me, it makes lazy days much more fashionable.
My uniform consists of a button-down – this could be gingham, plaid, stripes, etc – under a cozy sweater – from a fair isle to a simple cable-knit- paired with a fun statement necklace – lately, it has baubles, pearls, or flowers. As for the bottom half, I like to wear a comfortable pair of jeans or cords. This winter, for me, has been all about my emerald and cabernet colored bottoms. And no winter is without, my trusty L.L. Bean Boots!
I wear this variation of this look for a few reasons. It is easy and simple. No frustration or the “I don’t have anything to wear.” But the real reason, the combinations are extensive and all the different moving parts of my outfit make for a new look everyday.
Here’s an example from your’s truly:
Really, it is not that hard to get dressed for class…just put on your uniform!
