Working Out in Style: The Perfect Wardrobe for Getting In Shape

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Hitting the gym does wonders for a collegiette’s health, confidence, and spring break body! One of the simplest and most effective ways I’ve found to keep up motivation lies in nothing other than… shopping.

Workout clothing comes in an abundance of brands and bright colors. Although there’s no problem with throwing on an old T-shirt to go run, it seems that having a candy colored ensemble is slightly more inspiring to hit the pavement, and that’s fine, too! Here are some of my favorite fitness finds:

lululemon

Although it’s a little on the pricey side, lululemon sells unique, high-quality workout gear. These speed shorts are $54, and they come in bright pinks – even chevron. lululemon is always churning out creative styles and prints. If you want to treat yourself and find a new favorite outfit, this is the place to look.

Nike and Nike Pro

Nike is the dominant brand in sports and fitness, a durable staple – especially Nike pro spandex. The great thing is you can pick it up pretty much anywhere, from sports stores to outlets, discounters, and department stores. But where it really shines, in my opinion, is in its sneakers. Gone are the days of miscellaneous, dingy off white footwear. Prices range from about $80 to $150 for the super advanced, but sales are easy to find. Free Runs are definitely the most popular and come in the ever-popular tiffany blue shade.

Bonus: The level of customization Nike provides is unbelievable. For $130 you can handpick every aspect from tons of shades to layers of detail in the shoe’s sole, tongue, and laces. You can even get words inscribed with a different message on each foot, or just go with the classic Gators colors to show some school spirit on your feet.

NUXUSA

This isn’t a goliath of a brand like the others, but I stumbled upon some very cute tie-dye style compression shorts and leggings from NUXUSA. Compression or spandex actually helps stabilize your muscles and give you a better workout; so, you have a totally legit reason to buy it, right? These pieces are adorable and spice up an outfit without being too hard to match to existing pieces.

Victoria’s Secret

It seems like there’s a major influx of fitness lines coming out of well-known brands. In addition to bright tanks and the ever-famous yoga pant, Victoria’s Secret has some cute, unique styles to choose from. Maybe one day we can all look like Candice, rocking it in the picture above. Check out Old Navy and Forever 21 for some cheaper brand extensions as well.

Affinity

Although everyone may not have the confidence (yet!) to only wear a sports bra while breaking a sweat, these cool, unique sports bras could offer a bit more motivation.

LivFit

There are only a few pieces from LivFit, but this combination looks way more refreshing than an oversized tee. Another plus, the colors are amazing.

Monograms

You love them. I know. Monograms are an obvious staple in collegiette fashion. All of the Nike running shorts and sports bras you already own can be monogrammed at a local embroidery shop, or ordered through a variety of places online. There are also tons of tank tops out there, and even this perfect water bottle to add some personality to your hydration.

Now grab some gear and get to the gym!
