San Francisco 49ers Gear up for the Super Bowl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

Last Sunday January 20, 2013 the San Francisco 49ers beat the Falcons 28-24 and won the NFC Championship for a lucky spot in the 47th annual Super Bowl in New Orleans against AFC champions the Baltimore Ravens. This is the Niners’ first Super Bowl in nearly two decades, with the last time being their victory in 1994, when Steve Young and Jerry Rice were key players.

San Francisco residents along with many UC Berkeley students are gearing up for this historic game. Here are some top places in San Francisco to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday.

1.     Public House: A bar located just across the AT&T Park. This bar is loaded with 22 televisions and 24 beers on tap. Here you will not miss any action.

2.     Pete’s Tavern and Pedro’s Catina: SF’s popular adjoining sports bar and restaurant is gearing up for the 49ers Super Bowl win. This is the largest sports bar in San Francisco.

3.     SliderBar: This bar has six large flat screen televisions, 16 craft beers and more than seventeen types of sliders to choose from. SliderBar is the perfect location to watch the Super Bowl.

4.     Movie Theaters: Many movie theaters in San Francisco will be showing the game at free cost.

When we talk about the Super Bowl we cannot leave out the commercials and, of course, the halftime show.  One commercial that many UC Berkeley students should be on the lookout for is the one shot by Pepsi at our own Memorial Stadium, with many pictures of the filming of the commercial leaked on Instagram in early January. What about the halftime show? This year the beautiful Beyonce will be in charge of making millions of viewers dance and enjoy the 47th annual Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl is this Sunday, and whether you’re rooting for the Ravens or the 49ers, I can guarantee you that this game is going to be one of the bests. Go Niners!
