The Hair
Kelly Osbourne fronts this style like no other. Grey hair has always been a turning point in a woman’s life where she realises that she really is getting old. Now, however, people are openly opting for grey locks over traditional colours. Granted, this is a bit of a bold move and not all of us have the cash to rectify the mistake if it goes badly. However, when done well it shows more than anything how sexy standing out can be. We think Kelly looks fab!
The Panties
Say goodbye to thongs and hello to skin covering, high wasted, and surprisingly sexy underwear! Celebrities love them so much that they are even wearing them as outerwear. It might be taking the look a bit too far for say, the Forum, but here at Her Campus we are definitely fans of comfortable yet seductive underwear. From lace to plainer styles, not only are these undies extremely comfortable, they also make provide an amazing slimming effect!
The Fabrics
Tweed is back with a vengeance. Alongside silk and velvet, tweed is an ultimate granny fabric and also extremely stylish! A tweed jacket may just be the Spring/Summer 2013 addition to your wardrobe that you have been waiting for. Team it with a string of pearls and some cat eye sunglasses and you are good to go!
The Length
Bearing your legs is no longer the only way to look attractive; miniskirts have made way for maxi’s in a serious way. Channel 50’s and 60’s style when buying your next dress or skirt and invest in those extra inches this season to score extra fashion bonus points!
And of course… The Knit
Being massive fans of them here at Her Campus, we cannot stress enough how woolly, knitted, jumpers will always be in style! In this case perhaps granddad is the one to watch, as it is his, rather than granny’s jumpers that will truly make the fashion cut.
So in answer to my friend’s mum: yes, we really are dressing like old ladies. But don’t fret girls, this is not the insult we once used to think, it just might happen to be one of the most fun, comfortable trends to come along for a while!
