Following a week of unrelenting rain and serious flooding in our beautiful university town, what better way to stay positive then to start thinking about summer! It may only be December, but if you are a seasoned festival goer, now is the time to start planning. With the likes of Hideout, Global Gathering, Bugged Out, Weekender and many more tickets already on sale, for those lacking in ideas for Christmas presents, this could be your solution!
Already, an amazing opportunity has presented itself. If, after a long summer of flying across the country and getting a bit lost along the way, you decide that next summer you don’t want to deal with the stress of travel, why not consider trying a festival a bit closer to home? The festival I have in mind is one close to my own heart following an experience I can only describe as mental – but in a good way – that of Beach Break Live (BBL).
At first you may think ‘a festival… in Wales?!’
It is true that BBL is located at Pembrey Park South Wales however, before judging its location, listen to the expert advice of yours truly.
Beach Break Live, although a small student festival, has something for everyone and when I say this I do mean everyone. Whether you’re into your water sports or skiing, love spending hours in the dance tent shaking your stuff, or maybe just want a tan, this festival will satisfy your needs.
Not only does it host over 300 artists/DJs, having included the world renowned Friendly Fires, Netsky and Ben Howard last year, but it is also home to the Hot Tub with a View, the Southern Comfort Juke Joint (home of the best cocktails in the world) and the Chai Wallah tent if you fancy a more calming experience. In addition, for those wanting to see their favourite artists upside down, a full fair ground of rides is available.
Although the festival has everything you could dream of, what truly makes it special is that is has become one of Exeter’s best kept traditions. We are one of the top three attending universities, thus it is almost guaranteed that a large group of your friends will be going. Not only that, but coaches run directly from the campus to the festival so there is no need to stress in terms of transport.
The first lot of early bird tickets have already sold out, however the next release goes on sale from January 15th at £89. There will be three other release dates however the tickets will only increase in price, so get yours early!
If you are interested in repping for BBL, all you have to do is get a group of a certain number of mates together to buy a ticket to the festival, and you will receive a free ticket yourself. In addition, if you are keen on promoting the festival, you will be paid for the work you do, whether it be handing out flyers or putting posters up around campus. You may also end up receiving many other perks, including VIP upgrades and a Golden ticket (giving you free access to dozens of cool activities at the festival).
