T’is the Season of Eating! -8 Food Giving Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

Thoughtful, fun, and most importantly delcious -eight gift ideas for food lovers!

1) A homemade cookie tin. Buy or recycle tins, even Pringle cans work! Wash, decorate, and label them with your own “brand”. For example, I would label mine something silly like “Canned Cuddles”. Fill the tins with your friends’ favorite assortment of cookies, homemade or store bought.

2) Send the write message. Use the surface of any food as a canvas. Cut a tiny hole on the corner of a plastic bag and fill it with melted chocolate, frosting, or whatever you would like. Twist the end of the bag.Write a cute message on a pretzel, cookie, brownie, or even potato chip! Click here for directions on how to make and use decorator’s chocolate.

3) Simply add a ribbon. Is it looking a little plain? Tie it up in a pretty ribbon to add Christmas spirit.

4) Invest in your chef… maybe the reciever will make you the treat! Having a unique piece can make the kitchen an even more special  place for the cook.

Find this adorable cutting board. Learn how to make these tea towels.

5) Make kitchen connections. Do you have a special someone you cook with? Make a cook book including pictures of your favorite memories together. Use anything as simple as a binder or make it online. Websites like mixbook.com will print it in hard back.

6) Put a little oomf in it! In honor of the season, add fun flavors like peppermint, cider, eggnog, or gingerbread to make any food taste like a holiday!  Peppermint Oreo Pops Recipe.

7) Add some sparkle and shine. Edible pearls and glitter are easy to find in craft and bake stores, and can give your food that extra glam look that will make everyone impressed.

8) Give in pairs. A coffee cup filled with cookies, a meat fork and dry rub, or a pan and oven mit set.

Lindy Olive is known for being a foodie health-nut hybrid, who thinks the best things in life happen in the kitchen. She is a senior at Auburn University, majoring in Nutrition & Wellness and minoring in Sustainability. She wrote for Her Campus Auburn for three years before taking on a role as Campus Corespondent. If you ever need her, you can find her in front of a computer, in a garden, or at the gym. Lindy likes to dream big, and right now, that dream consists of owning a garden-bakery while writing agriculture public policy or working for a test kitchen. When she isn't thinking about food, which is apparently rare, she is hiking with her boyfriend and dog, on a feminist rant, or having deep conversations with her best friends Bailey and Melissa.
