Thanksgiving is a holiday when people tend to care less about the calories and more about the delicious food. Waking up on Friday morning and looking at the scale isn’t the best feeling after eating so much. With some hard work and patience, it is not hard to shed off those few extra pounds. Here are some tips on how to get started.
Eat healthy. This doesn’t mean you can’t eat what you like, just make sure you have portion control. On thanksgiving you tend to have a lot of carbs like potatoes and stuffing, so make sure you go back to grains, vegetables and fruits. These foods will keep you full longer, and keep you from excessive cravings later on.
Try not to snack in between meals. It is very important to not skip any meals during the day. You should eat 6 small meals during the day, rather than 2-3 meals and binge eating in between. These meals will keep you full during the day and get rid of urges to snack on junk food between meals.
Exercise. Make sure you go to the gym at least twice a week. Exercise is very important if you want to lose weight. You can make it more fun if you want to, and take classes, walk your dog or dance around with your friends. The key is to keep moving and those pounds will come off before you know it.
Stay motivated. Make sure you stick to your exercise and diet plan. It can be easy to give up or get off track. If you do get off track, that is no reason to stop, just continue as if it didn’t happen. Set a goal with how much weight you want to lose and give yourself a time frame of when you want to lose it by. Reward yourself as you see results.
Buddy system. It can be easier to stay motivated to work towards a better body if you do it with a friend. Have a buddy that also wants to lose weight. You can go to the gym with them, or take a run. They can also be there for you when you have that craving to tell you that you’ll regret it later, and you can do the same for them.
Make this your time of year with no excuses. You can’t just wish for the body you want, you have to work at it. Keep working hard at it with a picture in your mind of how great you’ll look with a few weeks of hard work and make sure you can maintain it. With these tips in mind, you will be feeling better about your weight in no time.
